The Lan Hua is only the second coffee we’ve had from China, and it marks our growing appreciation for the incredible leaps in quality happening every year in one of the world’s newest coffee regions. Tang & Tian work like many vineyards in the wine world, growing their own coffee while also purchasing coffee fresh off the tree from their neighbours so they can process it. For this lot they processed the coffee using the natural method, which really helped amplify the coffee’s sweetness and created a high-definition flavour profile.
We call China one of the world’s youngest coffee regions because only in the last five years have you been able to find high-quality lots being grown there. The government of China started to help develop coffee production in the country throughout the 90s. Because it takes whole crop cycles to learn and adapt to the local climate needs, it’s only now we can really enjoy incredibly unique lots like this one from Lan Hua.
