The World’s Rarest Low-Caffeine Coffee
Introducing Eugenioides
Notes of Marshmallow, Papaya, Guava
Every so often, a coffee comes along that changes everything we thought we knew about taste, origin, and experience. Eugenioides is that coffee — and it’s finally here at Kiss the Hippo.
Often described as the world’s rarest and most exclusive coffee, Eugenioides is unlike anything else. With a flavour that’s soft, silky and almost sweet, and a caffeine content that’s just a fraction of traditional Arabica, it redefines what coffee can be.
What Makes It So Unique?
Grown only at Inmaculada Coffee Farms in Colombia, Eugenioides is a rare species that shares genetic roots with Arabica — but offers an experience all its own. With naturally low caffeine and a soft, refined sweetness, it delivers a flavour profile that’s unexpectedly gentle: smooth, floral, and quietly complex.
Thanks to Inmaculada’s careful use of natural anaerobic processing, the coffee’s clarity and character are beautifully preserved. The result is a cup that’s not just rare — but deeply expressive, with a finish that stays with you.
The tree itself is exceptionally fragile — with small leaves and delicate branches that must be spaced far apart to survive. Each one produces just 150g of green coffee per harvest, about half that of an Arabica tree. These natural limitations make Eugenioides one of the hardest and most expensive coffees in the world to grow.
This is your opportunity to buy Eugenioides coffee beans — in one of the only releases of its kind, right here in the UK.

A Wild Coffee with East African Roots
Eugenioides is a wild, lesser-known parent of Arabica, originally discovered in the highlands of East Africa. It was largely forgotten until recently, when Inmaculada began carefully cultivating and reviving it. The species' naturally low caffeine means there’s none of the bitterness you’d associate with a typical cup — just softness, sweetness, and delicate complexity.

From the Foothills of Farallones National Park
Our Eugenioides comes from Inmaculada Coffee Farms, located in Pichindé in the Colombian Andes, between 1,700 and 2,000 metres above sea level. The farm is perched on the edge of the Farallones de Cali Natural Park, with only 36 of its 60 hectares planted — the rest left as pristine forest.
Inmaculada is known for its commitment to agroforestry and ecological cultivation, avoiding all synthetic fertilisers or agrochemicals. Their pioneering work in exotic coffee production has positioned them as global leaders — and one of the only farms in the world growing Eugenioides commercially.

The Coffee That Conquered the World Stage
Eugenioides gained global recognition at the 2021 World Barista and World Brewers Championships in Milan, where it helped shape two winning routines. Matt Winton, the World Brewers Cup Champion, used a Eugenioides blend to clinch victory. Diego Campos, the World Barista Champion, used it as his espresso of choice.
Its remarkable sweetness, low caffeine, and distinctive flavour profile made it a quiet revolution in the world of competition coffee — and ignited interest among roasters, judges, and coffee lovers worldwide.

From Competition-Only to Cup-In-Hand
Until now, very few outside of competition circles have had the chance to taste Eugenioides. That’s why we’re proud to share this coffee with you — in what may be one of the most limited public releases of the world’s most exclusive coffee.
Only 50 bags of 100g are available, making this an extraordinary opportunity to experience something rarely seen — or sipped — beyond the highest levels of the specialty coffee world.
While a handful of roasters globally have released Eugenioides in micro-lots, most sold out instantly. This might be your only chance to try it in the UK.
