Carlos Aguilera is as vibrant as the coffee he grows. Endlessly friendly and quick to humour, he enthusiastically stops to point out every small detail on his farm. Run by his family for three generations, Carmen Estate is renowned for its incredibly intense coffee, even managing to take this years silver medal at the Best of Panama coffee competition. In addition to providing the perfect conditions for growing coffee, the shade trees that surround the farm also create a thriving ecosystem for local wildlife. Once ripe, Carlos’ gesha is picked by hand and brought to the valley to dry in the sun. This slow, attentive process is what sets gesha apart from all other coffee.
