Coffee Meets Comedy: Our Partnership with Is This Thing On?

Our latest partnership is one that’s brought together coffee, comedy, and a shared love of cinema.

Last week, we launched a limited-edition collaboration with Is This Thing On? — the new film directed by Bradley Cooper and starring Will Arnett and Laura Dern, that explores mid-life reinvention and trying new ventures, giving us food for thought this January. Our collab brings together film, cosy January nights, storytelling, and most importantly - a delicious new coffee inspired by the pulse of New York’s stand-up scene.

A Film Built on Real Stories

The film is inspired by British comedian John Bishop’s personal journey into comedy and explores vulnerability, humour, and reinvention — the quieter moments behind the microphone that shape what comes next.

Introducing the New York Comedy Blend

The New York Comedy Blend launched last week as a nod to early mornings, late nights, and the rituals that fuel creativity.

In the cup, it’s smooth and balanced, with notes of rich chocolate, sweet caramel, and a pop of raspberry — approachable, versatile, and quietly bold.

At its heart:

  • A washed lot from Aquiares Estate, Costa Rica, grown on volcanic slopes and known for its depth and structure
  • Layered with a beautifully processed Pink Bourbon from Virginia Salazar in Colombia’s Quindío region, bringing clarity and lift

Together, they create a blend with character and balance — much like the city and the stories that inspired it.

Where to Find It

The New York Comedy Blend is available for a limited time:

  • Online, as whole bean and ground — with a few surprise extras included, whilst stocks last
  • At our Spitalfields café, where it’s featured in bags and as our second espresso, alongside a few subtle in-store touches tied to the collaboration

Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

A Night at the London Gala Screening

To celebrate the launch, we hosted a giveaway for a
pair of tickets to the London gala screening last week — and had the pleasure
of welcoming the winners for a night they won’t forget.

“I genuinely thought giveaways were a myth — something that other people won. I couldn’t believe it when I got the message. The whole night was incredible, from the film to the atmosphere, and we had the best time. Thank you so much for such a special experience.”

In Cinemas from 30 January

Is This Thing On? is in cinemas from 30 January, and it’s one we wholeheartedly recommend.

As for the coffee — it’s here for a short while longer.

A limited run, inspired by a moment worth remembering.
