Certified organic by the Soil Association, this version of our George St. Blend is our first 100% direct trade release in the series. Strong enough to shine through milk, George St. is carefully roasted to highlight the coffee’s robust, natural flavors. This version of our mainstay blend was created by blending two coffees from Latin America: the Colombian coffee Los Vascos and the Honduran coffee La Cumbre. Together, they create a coffee that is a crowd-pleasing combination of sweetness and strength.
Los Vascos is a cooperative of producers who work together under the name ASOTBILBAO. Each of them have small farms that are lush with coffee trees and nature reserves – a combination that makes the area look more like jungle than farm land. The cool weather of this mountainous region creates a terrior that is known for its deep caramel sweetness and light fruitiness.
La Cumbre is a small farm in the mountains northeast of the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa. Close to the country’s largest lake and surrounded by natural reserves, the land there is dramatic and dynamic. The microclimate of La Cumbre is fast-changing. With new weather fronts rolling in by the hour, the coffee cherries in the area become stressed, forcing them to ripen slowly and develop complex high clarity flavours.
