The Donna Espresso Blend is our nod towards a more traditional coffee flavour. First, we find coffees that have the inherent characteristics of deep chocolate, with low acidity and lots of body. We then roast a little darker than our other coffees, to the point where the natural sugars are browned to a dark caramel quality. Donna tastes robust and strong, but still allows the unique characteristics of our seasonal coffees to shine through.
To craft the newest chapter of Donna, we sourced coffees from two distinct regions, blending flavours from opposite sides of the globe. The foundation of this blend—70%—is an Ethiopian coffee from producer Nesru Aba and the Tokuma group, located in the highlands of Jimma. The remaining 30% comes from the Gaviotas Female Cooperative in Huila, Colombia. Together, they create a bold profile with deep notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and walnut, offering a rich, full-bodied cup with just a touch of acidity. It’s a flavour journey that’s both balanced and indulgent—perfect for any coffee lover.
We don’t label our coffee as espresso or filter. Instead, for each coffee we create a unique roasting profile, designed to bring out the best flavours from its origin, farm and milling method. That’s why, instead, we label our coffee based on the experience it brings to the cup.
