Meet our new seasonal blend! Fruitopia is all about embracing fun and experimental fruit-forward coffee flavours, starting with this not-so-traditional blend.
For our first release, we have a Tropical Fruit Co fermented Colombian coffee from Jairo Arcila. Jairo has fermented Honey processed Castillo coffee alongside lulo, a local fruit grown in Colombia, also known as naranjilla. The taste of lulo is somewhere between passionfruit and melon, with a beautifully floral aftertaste. We’ve blended this with our direct trade Peruvian coffee Solidario, in order to help balance out the blend and add some red fruit and caramel sweetness.
This Castillo lot was exposed to dry, anaerobic fermentation for 72 hours, during which time dried lulo fruit powder and whole lulo was added to the party and left to mingle with the coffee cherries while their pulps were still intact. Afterwards, the coffee was pulped and placed on raised beds to dry for a week, before the cherries were finally finished off in parabolic driers to reach 11% moisture.
We don’t label our coffee as espresso or filter. Instead, for each coffee we create a unique roasting profile, designed to bring out the best flavours from its origin, farm and milling method. That’s why, instead, we label our coffee based on the experience it brings to the cup.
