Nestled within the 405 hectare expanse of Estrela Caravalho lies a beautiful farm overseen by José Ricardo de Carvalho. Here, a harmonious balance is struck between coffee cultivation and environmental stewardship, with half of the land dedicated to coffee production and the other half preserved as a nature reserve. This regenerative approach not only fosters carbon capture, encourages biodiversity and soil health but also fortifies the farm against the threat of extreme climate change-led weather.
Estrela Carvalho is sourced through our partnership with NKG in Brazil, this lot clinching the top spot in the Natural Category at the prestigious Força Café Coffee Championship. We secured the entire lot at auction, meaning Kiss the Hippo is the only place from which you can taste this exceptional lot.
Upon tasting this coffee, you’ll see why it won first place. It’s extremely sweet with juicy plum sweetness, stone fruit notes and classic Brazilian flavours of chocolate and nuts. The perfect marriage of sustainable agricultural practices and exceptional coffee processing.
We don’t label our coffee as espresso or filter. Instead, for each coffee we create a unique roasting profile, designed to bring out the best flavours from its origin, farm and milling method. That’s why, instead, we label our coffee based on the experience it brings to the cup.
